What it involves
Regular pregnancy check-ups with a doctor. Your first antenatal visit includes blood tests, an ultrasound scan (sonar) and an antenatal card. Follow-up visits are booked as your pregnancy progresses.
Who it is for
- Women who are pregnant and seeking routine pregnancy care
- Expectant mothers attending an initial or follow-up antenatal consultation
- Patients who need guidance on pregnancy health and next steps in their care
What to expect
Antenatal care supports the health and wellbeing of both mother and baby throughout pregnancy.
Depending on your needs and the services available at Quanta Clinix, care may include:
- Review of your pregnancy and medical history
- Monitoring maternal health and pregnancy progress
- Guidance on nutrition, healthy pregnancy habits and warning signs
- Advice on appropriate tests, screening and referrals
Preparing for your visit
- Bring your South African ID or other accepted identification, if required.
- Bring your antenatal record or maternity booklet, if you have one.
- Bring any relevant medical records, test results and a list of current medicines.
- Be prepared to share the date of your last menstrual period or estimated due date, if known.
Good to know
The care provided will depend on your pregnancy, medical history and the services available at the clinic. Additional investigations or specialist maternity care may require referral.
Antenatal appointments are not a substitute for emergency maternity care. Seek urgent medical attention if you experience heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing or other serious symptoms during pregnancy.
